Music, culture and energy came together in the heart of Bukit Bintang for the Autumn Music & Cultural Festival 2026 at Sungei Wang Plaza.
Held from 25 to 27 September 2026, the three-day festival brought together music, cultural performances, interactive activities, food, local products and handicrafts as part of Sungei Wang Plaza’s 50th anniversary celebrations and the Visit Malaysia 2026–2027 campaign.
Behind the performances and audience experience, technical production played an important role in bringing the festival environment together.
As the event’s technical production partner, #TeamDOREMi delivered a complete production setup covering staging, truss, sound, lighting and LED systems.
From the initial setup through showtime, every element had to work together to support a programme that combined live music, cultural performances and activities in a busy public location.

ToggleA Festival Built Around Music and Culture

The Autumn Music & Cultural Festival was organised by Tourism Malaysia in collaboration with Sungei Wang Plaza and formed the grand finale of the mall’s “An Autumn Reunion” campaign.
The festival was designed to showcase Malaysia’s multicultural identity through a combination of music, cultural performances, entertainment and interactive experiences. The programme included Lion and Dragon dances, Indian cultural performances, Gendang Muhibbah, Zapin, Joget and other multicultural dances. Visitors could also participate in Mangunatip, an interactive bamboo dance performance.
The event also featured more than 50 booths offering food, local products and handicrafts, creating an environment that extended beyond the main performance area. Tourism Malaysia stated that the three-day festival was expected to attract approximately 170,000 visitors, including local communities and domestic and international tourists.
For an event of this nature, production is not simply about placing equipment on a stage.
The technical setup needs to support different types of performances, maintain clear sound, provide suitable lighting and deliver visual content that remains effective throughout the programme.
This is where event production services become an important part of the overall event experience.
Bringing the Technical Production Together
For the Sungei Wang Autumn Music & Cultural Festival, DOREMi delivered the core technical production elements required for the event.
The production covered:
- Staging
- Truss structures
- Sound systems
- Event lighting
- LED displays
Each element had its own technical requirements, but the real challenge was making them operate as one coordinated system.
A stage provides the performance platform. Truss can support production and lighting requirements. Sound allows performers and presenters to reach the audience clearly, while lighting helps define the stage and create the appropriate visual atmosphere.
LED displays add another visual layer, providing a platform for event content and visuals.
When these systems are planned individually without considering how they interact, technical issues can become more difficult to manage during the live event.
Professional event production services take a more integrated approach by considering the relationship between staging, sound, lighting, visuals and the programme itself.
Staging for a Live Festival Environment

The stage is the centre of attention during a music and cultural festival.
It needs to provide an appropriate platform for different performers while allowing the technical team to accommodate the required production equipment.
Unlike a single-format corporate presentation, a cultural festival can involve several types of performances throughout the programme.
Music performances may require different microphone and monitoring arrangements from cultural dance performances. Stage movement, performer positioning and equipment requirements can also change between segments.
This means the stage setup needs to be practical for both the performers and the technical team.
The staging also becomes the foundation around which other production elements are positioned.
Lighting, LED displays and truss need to be coordinated with the stage structure so that the final setup remains functional while maintaining a clean presentation for the audience.
Supporting Performances With the Right Sound
Sound is one of the most important technical elements at a live music and cultural event.
Audiences need to hear performers clearly, whether they are watching a musical performance, cultural presentation, host segment or other programme item.
At an outdoor or public-facing event, sound planning can also involve considerations beyond the stage itself.
Audience positioning, surrounding activity and the physical environment can influence how sound is experienced.
This makes sound system planning an important part of event production services.
The system needs to be selected and positioned according to the venue, programme, audience area and performance requirements.
It is not simply a matter of choosing speakers with the highest output.
A properly planned sound system should provide suitable coverage while maintaining clarity for the intended audience areas.
Lighting That Supports the Stage
Lighting helps transform a technical stage into a performance environment.
For a festival featuring music and cultural performances, lighting can help establish focus on performers, support transitions between programme segments and add visual energy to the stage.
Different performances may also require different lighting approaches.
A musical performance may use dynamic lighting changes, while a cultural presentation may benefit from lighting that clearly shows performers, costumes and movement.
The lighting system therefore needs to work alongside the programme rather than operate independently from it.
This is another reason why integrated event production services can be valuable for live events.
When staging, lighting and sound are planned together, the technical team can consider the complete performance environment rather than treating each equipment category as a separate requirement.
LED Visuals for a High-Energy Event

LED displays add another dimension to a live festival.
For an event with music, cultural performances and a large audience environment, LED can provide a strong visual platform for event branding, graphics, videos and other programmed content.
The display also needs to work within the overall stage design.
Screen positioning, viewing angles, brightness and content requirements all need to be considered during production planning.
The goal is not simply to install a large LED screen.
It is to ensure that the screen supports what is happening on stage and contributes to the audience experience without interfering with other technical elements.
With staging, truss, lighting, sound and LED operating together, the technical setup becomes one connected production system.
Why Coordination Matters During Live Events
One of the less visible parts of event production services is coordination.
Audiences usually experience the finished result.
They see the performers, hear the music and watch the visuals, but they do not necessarily see the preparation that allows these elements to happen together.
Behind the scenes, technical teams need to coordinate equipment, stage requirements, programme timing and operational details.
For a multi-day festival such as the Autumn Music & Cultural Festival, this coordination becomes particularly important because the production needs to support the event across several days.
Tourism Malaysia also announced that a section of Jalan Sultan Ismail in front of Sungei Wang Plaza would be closed from 24 September for setup, remain closed during the festival and begin dismantling after the final day.
This type of schedule highlights why production planning needs to consider more than the show itself.
Setup, testing, operation and dismantling all form part of the production process.
From Setup to Showtime

A successful live event does not begin when the first performer walks onto the stage.
There is a substantial amount of work that takes place before showtime.
Equipment needs to be positioned and connected. Technical systems need to be checked. The stage and truss setup needs to be ready. Audio and lighting systems need to be tested, while LED displays need to be prepared for the required content.
The technical team also needs to understand the programme so that the systems are ready for different segments.
This preparation helps reduce avoidable technical issues once the event begins.
For DOREMi, the objective was to bring the different production elements together so that the festival could move from setup into live operation smoothly.
The audience may only see the finished performance, but that seamless experience depends on preparation taking place behind the scenes.
More Than Equipment Rental
An event production company provides more than equipment.
While staging, truss, sound, lighting and LED are essential components, the way those systems are planned and operated is equally important.
DOREMi’s event production services cover technical production from planning and setup through event-day operation and pack-down. Its event production offering includes staging, sound, lighting, LED displays, rigging and other technical elements, with production personnel involved in coordinating the event from concept through execution.
This integrated approach allows different technical requirements to be considered as part of one production.
For a festival environment, that can mean coordinating multiple systems around a changing programme while keeping the audience experience at the centre of the technical planning.
A Complete Technical Production at Sungei Wang

The Autumn Music & Cultural Festival brought together many of the elements that make a live cultural event engaging: music, performances, food, interactive activities and visual experiences.
For #TeamDOREMi, the focus was on supporting that experience through the technical production.
From staging and truss to sound, lighting and LED, each component had a role to play.
The result was not simply a collection of technical equipment.
It was a coordinated production environment designed to support the performances and keep the programme moving from setup to showtime.
That is ultimately what professional event production services should achieve — allowing the technical side of an event to work reliably in the background while performers and audiences remain focused on the experience.
